The Butterfly Club is a small theatre in the heart of Melbourne. We have plenty of shows, award-winning foyer bars, and an enormous collection of kitsch.
Based on a true story, Lisa Brickell and Siri Embla weave a tale spanning four generations, multiple characters, and various dubious and devilish alter egos.
This outspoken comedy is an electric show filled with song, dance and performance art.
Spilling over with brash tunes and bawdy tales this is a cabaret adventure into the world of breast ownership.
The Big HOO-HAA!
Fast, furious and funny, The Big HOO-HAA! is Melbourne's longest-running and best-loved weekly impro comedy show. This is a popular show in a tiny theatre: book ahead.
Our free weekly piano bar featuring some of Melbourne's best entertainers. Did we mention it's free?
The World’s Smallest Dancefloor
International party icon Tomás Ford takes over the downstairs bar for a freeeeeeeeee party. Expect something a little different as he amps things up to 11 with his high energy DJ’ing, ratchet drag, hyperactive antics and all-out stupidity.
Funny Music Mondays
Comedy rock duo PickUp hosts a new line-up every week. Entry is free and the bar is open throughout. If it’s funny and it’s musical; it’s here.
Resting Switch Face
Navigate the wondrous (and treacherous) world of corporate reception with the terminally bubbly Jess and the wildly unenthused Zoe.
You are a great listener.
Join us for a drink, a show, or both. Or several of both.
Established in 1999 the Club is the best place to see young rising stars, household names, and the odd big fancy superstar who misses the feeling of performing to an intimate crowd.
We have between two and eight shows every night, our program changes weekly, new shows come up daily, and it’s perfectly ok to make visiting a habit.
Our bars serve award-winning cocktails in rooms decked out by an enormous collection of kitsch.
Producers, we want your shows.
With over 1100 performances every year, we are always on the lookout for new shows. If you are a producer (or self-produced artist) we’d love to hear from you.
With no minimum hire fee, free rehearsals, free front-of-house, free merch sales, and other assorted perks, the Club is a great place to get your work on stage without breaking the bank.
Give your friends the choice to come see any one show (regardless of ticket price) and pick a drink from our menu. At $50 per person, it's a great way to give people you love a night they'll love.
